Please read the following letter from one of our community partners, Amherst Media:
March 31, 2011
During the past three years, we at Amherst Media (formerly ACTV) have
reorganized our staff, operations and infrastructure to offer a variety
of digital media opportunities to the community at large. With a
facility re-location in the works, technology expanding at an often
times head-spinning rate, as well as neighbors and users that reflect a
wide spectrum of diversity, Amherst Media is actively seeking your input
and assistance in shaping the future of your community media center.
To accomplish this, and in partnership with the University of
Massachusetts, Amherst, Amherst Media is conducting a study to assist us
in better understanding the information and communication needs of the
diverse public(s) we serve, as well as to assess the value of our
productions and services for viewers and users, local non-profits and
We need your active participation in this process. We absolutely
cannot successfully prepare for the future without your input. Please
accept this invitation to join us at Amherst Media to complete a survey
(approximately 30 minutes in length) and take part in a focus group
discussion (roughly 1 – 1.5 hours).
Amherst Media will receive a final report, based on the findings of
these surveys and focus group discussions. While these findings will be
made available to the public, your confidentiality can be assured (no
mention of you in the document report or any public presentation thereof
without your prior approval).
In return for your help, participants in each focus group / survey
will be entered into a drawing for a free Ipod Nano. Additionally, all
participants in the overall focus group / survey process (12 sessions)
will be eligible to win a free 32 inch flat screen television. Most
importantly however, your participation ensures that your voice is heard
(even the “h”) and that you have a direct say in how your community
accesses and utilizes digital media resources.
Please call today to sign up for one of our twelve focus group /
survey sessions. This study cannot rely on secondary sources of
information. We need you!
