Pelham School Visioning Committee

The Pelham School Committee in conjunction with the Pelham Select Board convened a group of Pelham town officials and residents to determine possibilities for the future of educating Pelham children.

The official charge, jointly from the Pelham School Committee and Pelham Select Board is "To explore options for the quality educational future of Pelham's school-aged children - taking into consideration financial viability, governance, leadership, and configuration or structure - and to provide a written report outlining the options,  implications for each, and recommendations for next steps."

In addition to the co-chairs (School Committee and Selectboard) membership includes a member of the Pelham Finance Committee; a member of the Pelham Planning Board; community members; parents of past, current and future Pelham students; and the Pelham Elementary School Principal participates as a non-voting member. We have had several meetings to date and have a schedule to meet approximately every two or three weeks.

We are currently narrowing down the numerous possible scenarios and will soon choose which options we will research in depth. Once chosen, we will approach each scenario from four perspectives:
1. Financial implications
2. Educational implications
3. Fabric of the Community implications
4. Governance issues

Our meeting minutes will be posted on the Pelham Town website and the Pelham School website. We will have hard copies of the minutes and any handouts distributed at our meetings available in binders at the Pelham Town Hall, the Pelham Elementary School and the Pelham Library.
